Autumn - A bridge between seasons

"No Spring nor Summer Beauty hath such grace
As I have seen in one Autumnal face."
- John Donne

"Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting
and autumn a mosaic of them all."

"The wind-blown leaves turn
Dancing the golden sunlight
across the tired floor."

Autumn Bridge

As I walk in the woods, I come to an old wood bridge,
the trees are cloaked in red and yellow,
with a gurgling brook running underneath,
It’s now that I take the time to mellow,
and gaze with awe and wonder at the splendor,
that is fall’s colors.

Crossing the bridge, it occurs to me,
fall is a transition, a bridge, between seasons.
between the warm, carefree months of summer,
and the dormant, renewing days of winter,
a time to slow down and prepare for the time ahead.

As I step off the old wood bridge,
I take the time to remind myself, that
just as mother nature takes time to slow and refresh,
so must I, so that I can prepare for the time ahead.
