Happy Holidays

'Tis the season. The holidays are upon us and with that comes holiday shopping (mine is almost done), Christmas cards (working on them), trips to the post office (hopefully by the end of the week), and Christmas baking (my favorite part). This year we have 3 Holiday parties to attend as well, usually we don't have any. We have our church Christmas party on Friday and we have to go because I signed up to bring a dessert and rolls. Saturday is supposed to be the Christmas party for my work but I haven't heard when it is or if I need to bring anything, etc. Maybe I need to talk to Dr. N about that. Also this week is the Winter Program at R.L.'s school. It is Thursday and Friday (same thing both days) at his school, during school hours. My parents are going to surprise him by coming on Thursday with me. DH and MIL and the other 2 boys will go on Friday, so that he has someone there each day to see him perform. He is supposed to wear jeans and a western style shirt (which of course he doesn't have any of). I went to Wal-Mart (your one-stop shopping center, and very close to my work) to find him a shirt yesterday and I couldn't bring myself to buy any of the "western" shirts they had but I did find him a long-sleeve red flannel button up shirt that doesn't look too bad for $5, and so that is what I got him (red is his favorite color). Hopefully I'll remember to post pictures of the program on Friday or Monday. The third Christmas party we have to go to is the B.K. Christmas party of DH's on the 21st (he signed up to bring dessert, so he can make it). I could also go to the ward Relief Society Christmas party on the 18th but I have yet to decide if I am going to go. Now back to my Christmas baking. I got R.L. this Strawberry Shortcake cookbook at the book fair at his school this year (he picked it out), so we are going to make Christmas cookies from this cookbook. I have a list of ingredients that I need to go and buy and we'll do some cookies this weekend. I am going to give my co-workers a gift of homemade cookies and maybe some lottery scratch tickets. Although, now that I think about it, I might just buy them each a Christmas mug and some hot cocoa to go along with their cookies, or both. We'll see what I end up doing, but I'd like to have the cookies to give them for our Christmas party on Saturday, but I'm on-call and might have a "coffee date" with my friend in Alaska (for those of you who don't know, this is when we go out individually to have "coffee" and talk on the phone without distractions such as husbands and children), anyway that may mean that my co-workers will get their gifts on Monday instead. That won't be the end of my Christmas baking, however, we'll still need to make cookies on the 23rd or Christmas Eve to leave out for Santa. Man this is a long post, so I guess I'll sign off. Sorry for the rambling, but c'est la vie. If you don't like it, you don't have to read my post. I think I am just excited that's all (that and I have been drinking an Amp energy drink this morning, I have been dead tired lately, and perhaps that has something to do with it).
