Terzanelle

Today's poetry style is Terzanelle.

Pick Up Your Toys

Pick up your toys.
The boys are told.
Pick up your toys.
As drama begins to unfold.
Put your books away.
The boys are told.
As they begin their sway.
To gently manipulate my resolve.
Put your books away.
My will they try to dissolve.
By saying, "I love you, mom."
To gently manipulate my resolve.
With hugs and kisses they come.
Still trying to make me forget.
By saying "I love you, mom."
Maybe I will relent.
In parenting these are the joys.
Still trying to make me forget.
Pick up your toys!

Summer Ends

Children play in the cool autumn air,
and the baby loses his shoe.
For them this time does not have a care.

Making mud pies using water for "glue"
Riding bicycles very fast,
and the baby loses his shoe.

Knowing summer days won't last.
As a cool fall wind starts to blow,
Riding bicycles very fast.

Cool air does not slow,
Boys who need to play outside,
As a cool fall wind begins to blow.

There is nothing that they haven't tried,
But alas the summer ends.
For boys who need to play outside.

With the few warm days that summer sends,
The boys will do all they dare,
But alas the summer ends,
As children play in the cool autumn air.

The following pictures are the inspiration for the poem, "Summer Ends"
