What a week!!

Okay, so I think I have a minute or two to update my blog since my last entry. I have been having a hectic past 2 weeks. Anyway the weekend of September 20-21 was a Montana Spay/Neuter Taskforce event her in our town. I worked on the 20th. My SIL was in town and she is training to be a vet tech so she helped out on both days. Unfortunately I was on-call that weekend and kept going in and out of the clinic to see emergencies and even got to see one in the middle of the night on Saturday night, (fun! fun!). Well I was busy enough with hospitalized patients and emergencies that I did not go to church on Sunday (I have been bad about that, but I do need to go again soon - I am the choirster in the Relief Society).
Monday the 22nd, my SIL noticed that my MIL foot and leg were started to get red and swollen, this was noticed at night. We told my MIL that she would be going to the doctor no matter what on Tuesday. We couldn't get her an appointment at the co-operative health center that day, so my hubby took her to the urgent care that is adjacent to the ER here at the hospital. Well she gets there and her blood pressure is so high that she is immediately transferred to the ER. She got an IV catheter and bloodwork. She was on IV antibiotics for the infection in her leg. Long story short, she was in the hospital until Thursday (we got home at 9 p.m.). She ended up getting chest radiographs, a CT scan, an echocardiogram, and a heart scan. She has a doctor's appointment on Oct. 2nd, but she will need a heart cath test and a PET scan sometime in the next month or two. What is going on is that she is diabetic and needed the IV antibiotics to heal the infection in her leg. She had a leg ultrasound and there was not a blood clot (thank goodness). However her echocardiogram and heart scan revealed a section of her heart that is not getting adequate blood flow, hence the heart cath at a later date. Her chest x-ray showed a mass in the cranial part of her chest, and the CT scan showed that it is coming off her thyroid gland. She has to have the PET scan to differentiate between a benign goiter and a tumor.
So, she was home Thursday night. Friday I was at work until 7:30 with a patient, when I got home we had cake and icecream for my SIL (her birthday was Wednesday but that was postponed until everyone could be there). On Saturday we went to my parents' house because my mom's birthday was also Wednesday, so this was the family celebration. We stayed there Saturday night, because, after the week I had, I just wanted to get out of town for a bit.
Today I have a horrible crick in my neck that I just can't get rid of. C'est la vie. The day will be over soon, but I still have the financial assistance paperwork for my MIL's hospital stay to fill out (and I have 14 days from date of discharge to get it done). Just neverending paperwork, but when I get home tonight I am going to lay down on my heating pad and hopefully relax.
Happy Monday, everyone!!

I probably would have ended that with "Crappy Monday!" as it looks like that's the way yours has been shaping up to be. Hope tomorrow is better.
